Let’s talk about the Dirty Dozen list!
August 2, 2021 2022-09-14 21:30Let’s talk about the Dirty Dozen list!
I know purchasing everything organic can be expensive, but try to aim to purchase the fruit and vegetables in this list!
Why is organic so important?
Every year, the EWG (Environmental Working Group) shares a list called ‘Dirty Dozen’ that highlights 12 fruits and vegetables that are the most contaminated with harmful pesticides.
I was shocked to see my favorites are at the top of the list!
1. Strawberries
2. Spinach
3. Kale, collard and mustard greens
4. Nectarines
5. Apples
6. Grapes
7. Cherries
8. Peaches
9. Pears
10. Bell and Hot Peppers
11. Celery
12. Tomatoes
More than 90% tested positive for at least one pesticide residue. If you are not already, you should consider buying organic beginning with these top twelve produce items. When we switch to organic foods, we are lowering the levels of pesticides inside of the body. Remember: the thinner the skin of the fruit, the more likely it is that pesticides can leak through.
